Plectranthus plant description

A spreading, fast growing shrubby perennial that grows to approximately 60cm in high and 50cm wide.

The leaves are dark green in colour with purple undersides. There are many cultivars which produce pink/purple flowers that appear during the warmer months. Plectranthus saccatus ‘Velvet Lady’ is a popular cultivar with lovely cherry pink flowers (pictured).

Plant cultivation and care

Plectranthus saccatus prefer warm climates in a part-shade position with well-drained soil. Provide plenty of water during the Summer months. Fertilise annually after flowering.

Prune lightly after flowering. Pruning of older wood can help to promote new growth.
