Spider Plant description
Chlorophytum comosum, aka Spider Plant, has an abundance of grass-like leaves that are approximately 35cm long. It produces small plantlets on the end of long arching stems and small white flowers periodically.
Native to Africa, they are tropical plants that prefer a warm to hot, semi-shaded position. Variegated forms are readily available and are very easily grown. They can look quite stunning in hanging baskets and pots but be warned… in the garden they have a tendency to escape and become weeds due to the small plantlets taking root.
